interview coaching

What to Expect

We start with a brief telephone chat, to assure the service I offer will meet your needs. If you decide to go forward, I recommend beginning with two sessions, each for one hour.

My service is focused on helping you maximise your face to face interaction with the interview panel. As such, meeting for sessions in person is strongly recommended for greatest success.

FaceTime, Skype or telephone sessions are possible, if you are preparing for a video or phone interview or if you are not in Canberra. My service is built around providing the one thing you can’t do to prepare for an interview by searching the internet; practising live, face to face, and receiving individual feedback.

Session 1

In the first session, I want to hear about you. It’s important to showcase your individual talents to an interview panel, and I’m keen to help you identify and highlight them. We’ll spend some time reviewing your resume, and looking at the job description for the role you have in mind. Then we'll work on articulating your proposal for your unique contribution to the specific role at the targeted organisation.

We’ll spend some time talking about behavioural interview techniques, what makes a good answer, and start brainstorming some possible examples from your work or school history.

I’ll also want to know if you have any specific concerns so that we can address and rectify those. I'm flexible and will adapt the session to meet your needs.

Session 2

On our next meeting, we’ll practise like it's a real interview. I’ll ask you some questions targeted at the specific role and organisation you are applying for, and you can have a go at trying out your answers. I’ll give you some feedback and tips. Most people tell me they feel much more confident after rehearsing the interview.

Many people feel confidently prepared after two sessions. If additional sessions are required, that can easily be arranged.

investment

My fees are $440 for two one-hour sessions*, when paid at the completion of session one, or $396* for one 90 minute session. This includes review of your application, resume, and the selection criteria for the job you are applying for

to allow me to prepare likely questions for our practise session. Additional sessions are $165 per hour*.

I prepare bespoke questions for each individual role. If you require coaching for more than one job, a fee of $110* per additional job applies.

I accept major credit cards, cash and The Interview Coach gift cards

services for Graduates

Are you a recent Uni grad, or the parent of one? Maybe you're in your final year of tertiary study, and considering Graduate programs? It's a daunting prospect to navigate the myriad of options. The competition is stiff, and the assessments can be gruelling...it's hard to know where to start to prepare!

Don't worry; I have particular expertise in this area. I've  worked in a University counselling centre, studied and administered many of the tests you might encounter at assessment centres, and interviewed hundreds of applicants for entry level public service jobs in Australia. My consulting room is located in Civic just metres away from the ANU. Get in touch if you'd like help with:

  • Preparing for face to face and video interviews

  • Knowing what to expect at assessment centres

  • Getting ready for group exercises

  • Understanding the organisation and the role

  • Demonstrating motivation and enthusiasm
